This computer wallpaper shows a scene from World War II, when the aircraft carrier, USS Franklin, was attacked on March 19, 1945. This image was taken by PHC Albert Bullock from the USS Santa Fe, which was aiding in fire with rescue work and firefighting. The USS Franklin was hit by a Japanese air attack. Though the ship was dead in the water, and many crewmen were lost, the survivors were able to save the ship. |
